Pastor Joe Agne

A Message

for January 10, 2021

Pastor Joe Agne reflects on Matthew 2:1-12 — the story of the Magi coming to greet the birth of Jesus — and what guidance it provides as we respond to the tensions underlying the events that transpired in Washington, D.C. Tuesday, January 5, in his sermon, "Going Home By A Different Way."

Missed Christmas Eve? No Problem. Watch Now.

Candlelighting, caroling, living nativity, a visit form St. Nicholas and a message of hope — all safely social distanced in cars in the church parking lot — marked Cedaredge Community UMC's Christmas Eve Service. Thank you to David J. Jacobson for taping the service. Click to view.

Music was presented by Bill Rowe of the Paonia area accompanied by Steve Cochran, also of Paonia, and Pamela Gubkin of Cedaredge. The Alena and Manny Windedahl-Simms Sena family of Cedaredge depicted the holy family.

Pastor Joe Agne’s message for the evening, “Not Curse the Darkness But Light a Candle,” drew inspiration from John 1:1-12. St. Nicholas from 3rd and 4th Century shared his story.

Bill and Kim Vezzozo, co-owners of Aspen Trails RV Park just north of Cedaredge, provided a flat-bed truck for the stage, and David Starr, owner of Starr’s Guitars in Cedaredge, provided the sound system and streamed the service. Many others in the church assisted in planning, directing traffic, providing and setting up lighting, and more.

Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors

Cedaredge Community United Methodist Church is committed to serving our community during this time when literally keeping our doors open is not the best thing for our community. But no health crisis can close our sense of what it means to be a church with open doors. We welcome all people of all races, genders, ages, incomes and beliefs. We are a people committed to living for others. We are here to listen, to accompany you in the joys and challenges of life. Now more than ever, our faith community opens our hearts, our minds and our symbolic doors to you. From online Bible study to weekly postings of Pastor Joe's sermons on this website to finding folks to help you meet the needs of daily life, we are here. Call or email Pastor Joe Agne:

To All Members and Friends of CCUMC,

We continue to need your financial support during this time when, for the safety of all, we must limit our physical interactions with each other. We must maintain our building and support our community outreach. We need to pay our staff and pastor who are working hard to grow our ministry in new ways under difficult circumstances with new technology. Passing the collection plate for now means sustaining your pledge and giving online by using the Donate button in the top right corner of this page — or mail a check or money order payable to CCUMC to CCUMC, P.O. Box 369, Cedaredge, CO 81413.
