A Message

for October 4, 2020

Pastor Joe Agne continues his series of sermons on means of grace. Working  with 1 Corinthians 11: 23-26, he reflects on communion as a means of grace in his October 4 sermon

Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors

Cedaredge Community United Methodist Church is committed to serving our community during this time when literally keeping our doors open is not the best thing for our community. But no health crisis can close our sense of what it means to be a church with open doors. We welcome all people of all races, genders, ages, incomes and beliefs. We are a people committed to living for others. We are here to listen, to accompany you in the joys and challenges of life. Now more than ever, our faith community opens our hearts, our minds and our symbolic doors to you. From online Bible study to weekly postings of Pastor Joe's sermons on this website to finding folks to help you meet the needs of daily life, we are here. Prayers for Our Nation

Among the most sacred things we do as a nation is vote. Voting is the heart of our democracy. From now until Election Day, even if we have voted ahead of time, we will pause to light a candle and pray together in worship. The prayer offered on Sunday can be prayed each day of the week in our homes. Light a candle and pray for wisdom and courage as we vote. All of us will not be voting for the same people, yet we love the same nation. Let’s pray together as we head for the polls.                                               — Pastor Joe

Prayer for the week of September 27

Pray the Lord's Prayer, pausing to place emphasis on the words "on earth as it is in heaven." Pause for a moment of silence. Imagine God present with each voter, then pray: God, we ask your presence with each of us as we vote. Guide us to make choices that help us live into the prayer Jesus taught us to pray. Amen. And amen.

Blessing of the Animals

More than 35 dogs and cats were blessed during the "Celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi" Sunday, October 4 at Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center in downtown Cedaredge. The event raised more than $300 for Surface Creek Animal Shelter in Cedaredge. Pictures were taken of folks' furry friends being blest and will be sent to the animals' families.

The event was sponsored by Cedaredge Community United Methodist Church and hosted by  Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center as a benefit for the shelter

To All Members and Friends of CCUMC,

We continue to need your financial support during this time when, for the safety of all, we must limit our physical interactions with each other. We must maintain our building and support our community outreach. We need to pay our staff and pastor who are working hard to grow our ministry in new ways under difficult circumstances with new technology. Passing the collection plate for now means sustaining your pledge and giving online by using the Donate button in the top right corner of this page — or mail a check or money order payable to CCUMC to CCUMC, P.O.
